    GO ON offers a free, web search facility from a clean, simple homepage, plus taster courses to help people get to grips with computers and the internet.
    GO ON courses also known as 'Learner Journey' are broken down in to four levels - online basics, starting, using and understanding. The journey helps centres and individuals track their learning progress and build their own journey based on the subjects that interest them. Courses include how to use a mouse, to how to bank, shop and stay safe online, digital photography to politics, job hunting to bargain hunting. With over 15 courses to choose from there will be a courses to suite your needs.
    The vision for GO ON is to make the internet available and accessible to those who have never used it before - whether because of lack of motivation, skills, confidence, or even disability.

    'BBC Click' Beginners IT

    If you think computers and the internet are not for you, you're not alone. If you think you're too old or too stupid to use it, you're not alone. There are millions of people who fell the same way.
    Computers and the internet have become a part of everyday life - from staying in touch with friends and family and sharing photographs to booking holidays and doing your shopping online.
    It's all really useful... if you know how! That is why the BBC has created this course to help those people who have never used a computer or the internet to understand and enjoy the benefits they offer.
    It takes you step-by-step through the very basics like using a mouse and a keyboard, through to searching the internet and sending emails. To help you practise these new skills, a number of the topics include links to interactive activities on the BBC WebWise website. As your confidence grows, you will be able to download more topics from the First Click website to include in your guide.

    ECDL Essentials is our Level 1 ITQ Award in IT User skills
    ECDL Essentials is an excellent introduction to the world of IT, with units covering the fundamentals of using IT, with a particular focus on the first steps in using a computer, explanations of the internet and email and how they can be used safely and productively.
    Although ECDL Essentials is a fixed combination, the achievement can be used towards a flexible level 1 certificate or as credit transfer towards higher level ITQ qualification such as a Level 2 certificate or diploma.
    The structure for the qualification is below:

    ECDL Essentials
    IT User Fundamentals IT User fundamentals builds the learners confidence by teaching basic interaction with computers, from start up to productive use and basic computer house-keeping.
    Using email and the Internet This unit helps the learner understand how to use internet and email in a safe and secure way. It explains key terms and builds a knowledge of the fundamentals of computer security, and how to start browsing the internet and using email.
    Security for IT Users The Security for IT Users unit provides the learner with an essential understanding of how to use a computer in a safe and secure manner, protecting their data and that of other users.

    -Intermediate Courses-

    The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognised qualification for computer users.
    ECDL improves learners' understanding of computers and promotes efficient use of software. The course opens up a variety of opportunities through the broad range of skills it provides.
    The qualification is widely recognised by employers as proof of ability and competence when working with IT.
    The seven ECDL Units are:

    ECDL maps to the international ECDL syllabus with the exception of "Security for IT Users" which has been designed to meet UK standards.

    ECDL Advanced is our Level 3 ITQ Certificate in IT User skills
    The aim of the qualification is to recognise the application of a range of IT user skills and knowledge in the workplace, meeting employer workforce demands. Learners typically register for one unit at a time, completing their studies in "bite-size chunks". Although ECDL Advanced is a fixed combination qualification, the achievement can be used as credit transfer towards a flexible level 3 ITQ diploma.
